Soms, onverwags, gebeur dinge wat mens met baie dankbaarheid vul. Die afgelope drie dae al is daar 'n gebrom om en naby ons skool. Die pragtige bome voor ons skool word gesnoei en laat die gebou toe om die son in te lok voor "Winter" met sy grys jas alles verander. Dan staan mens met jou kamera en deel dit met almal. Dankie aan Stad Kaapstad en sy span wat die werk met soveel energie en deeglikheid gedoen het.

17 February 2015 - Grade 8 Blazer Assembly.

One of the hottest days this summer and it was all smiles from very proud Grade 8 learners, parents and teachers. What a privilege for all these young learners to become a part of our proud school. Mrs Africa fitted their blazers and you could see them enjoy the moment.

VALENTINE'S CELEBRATION - GRADE 12 INITIATIVE

Valentine's day could only be celebrated on Monday 16/02/2015 and we were very surprised by the show that the matrics put together. A day to remember. A word of thanks to all the participants in the modelling show. Me Visser and her team was phenomenal, thank you.

What a wonderful day.
In the photo-compilation above you will notice the excitement and joy we had at the UWC athletics track. We thank the grounds coordinator and staff for the facilities. Me Neethling is featured in the top left and gazes upon a sight she may miss. Me Cox was faster than any athlete of our school - this teacher is truly remarkable and such a "gem". Me Lawrence in the bottom corner of the photo is a "crowd magnate" and always projects happiness! We were also privileged to have our representative "crowd of matric learners" as you can see in the left bottom of this picture.
What a fantastic day! Irreplaceable moments.

JG. MEIRING - HOST OF G4 ATHLETICS 2015

GOODWOOD COLLEGE stands humble to the principal and staff of JG Meiring for hosting our annual athletics meeting. What a fantastic day of sportsmanship and coordination of events "on and off" the track. We need to mention the fantastic and powerful message of the host school's message page of the pamphlet (picture shown below)

Principal Linderts addressed the athletes, learners and staff of the 4 schools with a good welcoming message.

ONLY THE HIGHLIGHTS.

"High four" to the principals: Mr Linderts, Me Africa, Mr Odendaal and Mr Marchand. (G4 principals - we salute your effort to keep sport alive!)

Mr Linderts mentioned the following: "The universal language of sport speaks to the hearts of millions of South Africans. From humble beginnings future stars are discovered on the playing fields of schools where learners engage in the ultimate language of "sport".

He mentioned our beloved Mr Mandela's take on union through sport with the following extract: "Sport has the power to change the world. Sport can create hope, where there was once despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination".

"Laat die dag genotvol wees en mag sport en kameraderie die wenners wees".

JAMES TALJAARD GRADE 10 - ADDING VALUE TO GOODWOOD COLLEGE

OVERSEAS TRIP 2015 - PENGUINS

James is a member of the Penguins Ice Hockey team at Grand West Ice Rink, It is an open club and anyone can become a member. For this tournament however, James will be playing for the U/18 National Ice Hockey team.  The U/18 National Ice Hockey team is going to tour Taipei from the 16th to the 28th of March 2015. It promises to be a fantastic opportunity for James and his team mates and they are going to compete against the following teams: Iceland; Israel; Chinese Taipei, Algeria and Mexico. James seems very excited and our best wishes accompany him on his trip. Although Ice Hockey is not a formal sports code at Goodwood College, his affiliation with us will add value to the school. James, we are very proud of you!

2015 FIRST DAY OF GRADE 12 @ GOODWOOD COLLEGE

First day of being a "senior" @ Goodwood College.

Grade 12 in 2015. We will rock the world as you know it! 100% pass-rate!

FIRST DUEL-ASSEMBLY. WE WELCOME OUR NEW G8 INTAKE OF 2015/ EERSTE TANDEM-BYEENKOMS VAN 2015

"2015 - First assembly - GET phase"

'n Hart het net soveel "kamers" om een mens aan die lewe te hou. 'n Skool het net soveel plek om almal in een saalbyeenkoms te kan huisves".

We had to accommodate our learners in two sessions. After we assembled outside, the GET phase were organised into their grade sections and directly after that, we had to accommodate the FET phase to be divided into their respective grade sections. A "marathon" assembly session started the new year. (Do the math: one session = 50 min) WOW.

The Grade 8's had to line up to be allocated to their respective register classes. Cape Town's weather allowed them to have a fresh start to a new journey. "What a blessed day!"
 
Under the watchful eye of Me Steyn, Me Grobler and Me Williams, learners were allocated class sections and a feeling of well being.

2015 FIRST DAY OF A 5 YEAR JOURNEY!

21 January 2015 marks the 5 year "journey"!

"Although we had a information session last year, an excursion of the school and surrounds yesterday, we were waiting in anticipation today. If by chance technology could record our heartbeats, it would sound like a "million drums".

2014 MATRICS CELEBRATE!

We are truly proud of our 2014 Grade 12's. The diligent leadership of their Grade Head, Me Alicia Esau and the dedication of the teaching staff. We salute each and everyone. Thank you. A pass rate of 98,7% boasts the best in our circuit 5!

In the photo compilation you will notice our top 3 candidates. Tiffany Lewis, Adri Davis and Beauretha Seagren. It is with pride that the principal Me Africa and the deputy, Mr Barkhuizen handed the results to our learners.
