GOODWOOD COLLEGE RECEIVES A FRIENDLY VISIT FROM SAPS

Today we were blessed when Sergeant Pheiffer introduced Captain Wentzel to the deputy principal Mr Barkhuizen. We have frequent visits from SAPS and communication between the school and the communication officer means a lot. We salute sergeant Pheiffer for her patience and warm hearted interest in our community.

Mrs Africa also joined the conversation and we hope to have a safe and wonderful 2020 school year...

GRADE 8'S GREET THEIR PARENTS AND MEET THE PRINCIPAL

A landscape photo is the only way to comprehend the anticipation of the Grade 8 parents that greet their children at the gate to meet the Headmistress, Mrs Africa at the front gate on the first school day of 2020.

After the formal and hearty welcome from the principal, the parents greeted the Grade 8's and they had to be ticked off in the register.

Mrs Baard calls out the names of the first section and Miss Carolison (left) and Mr Barkhuizen (right) greet the learners as they enter the school building.

2020 THE NEW DECADE @ GWC

Wednesday 15 January 2020

It is the dawn of a New Decade. Goodwood College is going to go places this year.

School started on Monday 13 January 2020 for teachers already and they were very busy to get the school ready for the learners who will be arriving for the new school year.

Grade 8's were busy with orientation on Tuesday 14 January and they were bright "eyed and bushy tailed" when they met in the hall to listen to their new Grade 8 Grade Heads Mrs Naidoo and Mrs Baard; Register teachers: Miss Abrahams and Miss Carolison as well as senior learners who gave them a tour of the building.

Mr Barkhuizen mentioned during his welcoming speech that he is looking at a Grade 8 group that applied to be learners of Goodwood College long in advance and therefore their applications were successful and they are now in his eyes the potential Matric Class of 2024, no matter from where they were in 2019. From now on they are "part and parcel" of Goodwood College.

GO GREEN OR GO HOME! - INTER HOUSE ATHLETICS 2017

Amazing spirit and joyful day!

Inter-house Athletics day, was a day of jubilation at our school. Teams of Yellow, White and Green was taking part in the In-house Athletics competition. We wished for a green grass athletics track and a "GEES" that could bring us union and a sense of well-being for 2017. All 3 teams had to "Brag" big and loud. Looking back at the day: GREEN is IN. Congratulations to everyone. It was a synergy of team work to make this day possible. Thanks to all the effort from teachers who went the extra mile and host this fantastic event.
1000 Photos cannot describe the "Gees" on this day.
Thank you learners of Goodwood College for taking part in this eventful day.

2017 First Assembly

Moments like this is precious and dear to our school.

"First Assembly" 2017 Grade 8's join in the celebration of our teachers with 100% pass in their learning areas.

2017 - New teachers

Joining us in 2017 - Welcome to Goodwood College

Joining our staff component. Our staff-intake for 2017. We welcome you to our school and hope you find "solid ground" in our establishment. We strive to be a diverse and caring school that operates as one BIG family. Our message to you is: "Excellence is measured according to the value you add to our school and the difference you make on a day-to-day basis".

On the left Top and below: Mr N Davids; Miss Swanepoel; Miss Nel
Right Top to below: Mrs Skopilis and Mr Engeldou.

Team of 2017 - Thanks to our teachers

It is the rhythm of a TEAM that will determine the pace of  2017. May we be the cosmic favourites to produce a harmonious and well deserved pass rate, yet again.

Gathering on the evening of 9 January, the staff had an inspirational "DRUMBA" experience. Getting together and celebrating a year's (2016) "flash backs" and determining the "pulse" of the year to come. Thanks to all staff members. We are a "tribe" of our own as the sounds of drums pulsed for 1hour in the hall. Each and every teacher made a difference in the lives of our Grade 12's. More important is the tempo of quality teaching and learning for the rest of the learners from Grade 8 - 11 this year. Let us build a legacy of commitment and create a safe school...
All of these individuals make up a team to be reckoned with. Informal and ready for 2017.

Attitude determines Altitude - the journey to Accounting excellence

The photo-compilation says it all. Long after school hours on a Friday, Miss Muller and her students engage in the finer "high flyer" part of Accounting.

Djamillah and Djibreelly Mutabazi serious at work for more than two hours after school on a Friday. Miss Muller takes them to  another level in Accounting Grade 9.

Thanks Miss Muller for the positive and inspirational engagement with our learners. No wonder their names are amongst the top 10 of their grade.

2016 Mr&Miss GOODWOOD COLLEGE [PROMOTION] - SATURDAY 27 AUGUST 2016

Today a total new approach! Teachers are going to WIN the title of Mr GC or Miss GC. Watch this space!

In the true spirit of a beauty pageant our fantastically young and vibrant teachers met at the assembly area. Dressed for success they posed for an early morning "shoot". If they are so enthusiastic early in the morning, you must see them on the evening of the pageant!!

The teachers are ready! Great pre-Spring fun!

We would love to see the "Judge's" favourites. At our last assembly all contestants were mentioned and according to the opinion of everyone, it seems that the "real" competition is going to be ONE "earth-rocking" experience.
Tickets was sold during school hours, but can still be purchased at the gate. Tickets now available R30 @ gate-booking-availability.

CONSUMER STUDY LAB UPGRADE 2016

Thank you.

We are humble in our acknowledgement of the extended hand of caring from our sponsors.

(It leaves us with a loss of words.)

We strive to uplift and educate our "dear" learners to reach their maximum potential.

Our core business is to teach them the basics of food technology and planning to run a successful household/entrepreneurial venture. The environment to teach them must embody today's standards. Hence the necessity of an upgrade in the Consumer Study Classroom.

Thanks to all stakeholders. You all contributed to the one ingredient in a recipe that will ensure a 100% end result.

Goodwood College - FUN reward day celebration - 8 April 2016

This blog page is dedicated to Mrs Dominique Perrang and her team.
FUN AND FUN AND REWARD DAY
We were bound by safety and security protocol from WCED to refrain from having "surf walks". It is necessary if we look at annual drownings and accidents. We respect that. Instead of going to the ocean, we brought fun and water to our beautiful school.

Have a close look at all the photo's. It took some time for the CAT team to get hold of them. It was such fun and the extreme summer weather played a role to make this the best first Friday of the second term. Thanks to all stakeholders, teachers and learners. Next time we hope to see more than the 1/3 of you in our ongoing venture to raise funds and make your journey from Gr8 to Gr12 to be fun an fantastic.

FIRST PRIZE: JAYDEE HARTZENBERG; SECOND: KESHIA FESTUS AND THIRD: SARAH MOUHANI.
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOUR EFFORT. THANKS!!!

Egg race; Sack race; Gladiators; Super Water Slide and much more. MUSIC from Mr Alexander. Look at all their smiles.

On a day like this the staff rejoice and take part in all the events.
Thanks to all of our staff: ON and OFF camera.

TOP GRADE 10 CAT LEARNER - BRYCE AKWO

BRYCE AKWO TOP ACHIEVER CAT

Today in the CAT class, we had our own "Prize Giving" ceremony. Mr Barkhuizen gave a cash incentive to the top performer in Theory to prove that this section of the final mark (Theory + Practical) can have a radical influence on the final mark. During our first assessment in Grade 10 it is great fun to see the competition between learners.

Congratulations Bryce. This small token of appreciation comes with a huge responsibility. "You need to stay at the top to compete with the BIG GUNs in CAT for the rest of the year."

Bryce receives the R150 prize money. Well done Bryce we are proud of you!

Worth mentioning the TOP TEN! Watch this space!

GESELLIGE Brrrrrr. brrrrrr.
